[Bill Cara] Bill Cara: Bill Cara's Community Chat, Fri., Aug. 8, 2008, 7:03am ET: America has been undone by the far-right wing Ayn Rand-loving Alan Greenspan, a man without the academic credentials to have ever by rights been Fed chairman but with more than enough chutzpuh to have facilitated the next great wave of real estate consolidation by the rich, essentially by busting out the entire asset class while impoverishing millions of unsuspecting (stupid, I don't mind saying it) people.
[BBC NEWS | Nick Bryant's Australia] BBC NEWS | The Reporters | Nick Bryant: John Pilger, the investigative journalist wrote- Sydney Bulletin published intelligence documents which show that Howard and his foreign minister, Alexander Downer, were warned months before that the murderous Kopassus was running the militias and was about to "scorch" East Timor. Yet Downer "repeatedly sought to head off peacekeepers for Timor", assuring Jakarta that Indonesia was "100 times more important than East Timor".
[Bill Cara] Bill Cara: Caras Commentary & Community Chat, Thurs., Oct. 4 ...: Bravo to Ron Paul for giving voice to the hundreds of millions or pensioners, savers, working stiffs, poor, fixed income beneficiaries, laborers, gasoline-, bread-, milk-, and egg-buyers who werent able to ask Mr. Bernanke why he - like every Fed chairman before him since 1913 - screwed them for the benefit of the top 5% of the population of this country.

[Bill Cara] Bill Cara: Cara's Commentary & Community Chat, Sat., Feb. 2, 2008 ...: there is an entire universe of challenges/problems/dreams upon which the US could and should be focusing its intellectual and creative captial->hate to say it, but inventing and selling packaaged and repackaged financial instruments while earning billions in fees, arbitrage, and trading add little of value...there are environmental/health-care/economic/technological challenges that could benefit the citizenry far more->maybe a prolonged recession will help to take investment banking off the top ten list...we could use a few more (talented) scientists/public policy administrators/researchers/health-care providers....

To clarify, I am referring to the likelihood of price movement being somewhat predictable, I am not saying that the direction of that movement is necessarily predictable simply because it happens to be a traditionally active time of day or night for any given currency pair.
[BBC Blog Network] BBC NEWS | The Reporters | Robert Peston: I cant believe that the leaders of the banking system, who instituted the mess we are in,could have the nerve to justify their entitlement to any bonus.I would think that there is a case for a return of previous bonuses and criminal charges against some of these fraudsters. They were all aware of the situation for some time yet persisted in there actions. Had this been in other than the banking sector there heads would have rolled and someone who could manage employed in there place, yet they persist with there dubious activities in declaring there intent to pay huge bonuses. It is about time they were made to join the real world, reduce there salaries and stop the bonuses until such time as the economy is stable.I do not believe that any man is worth 750k+ salay and 1mil + bonuses.I am a pensioner and would love a huge bonus at the end of the year, perhaps this may happen now I own a large part of these banks who are paying these large bonuses.Fat chance I think
[politicalbetting.com] politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Has the IMF taken away ...: Stephen Timms looked and sounded like someone who knows absolutely nothing about economics and this morning hearing the Simons man was just pathetic on BBC Brekfast accusing an all party committee ( me thinks chaired by a Labour MP) of playing politics for daring to say the Government has wasted £5 billion on its English adult literacy strategy when over 5 million English adults still can’t read, write or spell!
[BBC Blog Network] BBC NEWS | The Reporters | Robert Peston: It would also be open to HMG to require the banks to disclose their balance sheets in full - that the initial stage of the statutory moratorium provided to the banks would be a sensible audit (not a full one, that would take decades no doubt, but at least a sensible dig which could continue during the moratorium) against revised accounting standards designed to capture all the CDO liabilities, SIVs, orphan funds, securitised liabilities, JV investments etc that have the banks frozen in fear, combined with, for example, interrogation of key finance personnel on oath (using statutory declarations) as to liabilities.
